Co-Yo: Vegan Friendly Coconut Milk Yoghurt

CoYo: Coconut Milk Yoghurt
Coconut products are receiving increased attention in the nutrition and fitness world just lately. One of the many reasons for using coconut as an alternative to dairy is that Coconut is one of nature's richest sources of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs). MCFAs are smaller, easily digested and burned by the liver for energy - like carbohydrates, but without the insulin spike. MCFAs actually boost the metabolism and help your body use fat for energy, as opposed to storing it, so it can actually help you become leaner. Additionally MCFAs improve heart health, boost the thyroid and support the immune system.

CO YO Coconut Milk Yogurt is made from 99% pure coconut. Each 100g pot contains 1 whole coconut and is 100% Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Lactose Free, Soya Free and has no added sugar.  Because the yogurt is made from cultures grown on plant based nutrients, it is suitable for both vegans and vegetarians.

Co-Yo natural can be used as a normal yoghurt, added to musesli, mixed in with smoothies, use in baking, cooked into curries or as a base for dips and vegan mayo! If its a tasty, light dessert that you're after then you can also buy Co-Yo in  range of flavours including Mixed Berry, Mango, Pineapple, Strawberry and Raw Chocolate (my favourite!)

So who came up with 'Co-Yo'?
CO YO UK was founded by Bethany Eaton. Bethany has a Bachelor of Science degree in nutritional medicine and ran a successful nutrition practice at the prestigious Hale Clinic in London for 8 years. It was while working with clients with specific dietary requirements that Bethany became determined to find a real 'free from' alternative to the limited supply of products available at that time.  Bethany saw a gap in the market for a coconut milk yogurt and discovered that CO YO had just launched in Australia.  Following discussions with CO YO Australia, Bethany and her husband Paul own CO YO in the UK and produce their range of yogurts and ice creams in their dairy free factory in Kent.

What it costs & where to buy:
Each 125g pot is priced £1.99. The natural (plain) Co-Yo is also available in 250g and 400g sizes. Since June this year, Tesco has began stocking Co-Yo in the Mango, Raw Chocolate and Natural flavours both instore and online.
