Food News: High protein yogurt, Danio comes in 3 new flavours

Danone has introduced three new flavours to it's popular range of high protein yogurts, Danio. The new Mango, Honey and Plain additions contain 0% fat, with Mango and Honey averaging 122kcal per pot, whilst the Plain version contains just 81kcal. The Danio yogurts each have around 12g of protein and contain no artificial sweeteners or flavourings and are available in generously sized single serve pots.

I decided to try the plain Danio with along with a handful of fresh strawberries and blueberries for a healthy sundae. Usually I dislike plain yogurt as it's always seemed kind of tasteless to me, but I was pleasantly surprised by Danio's plain. It still has the thick, creamy texture that the fruit Danio's have (just without the bottom layer of fruit) and it's ideal to mix with fruit or use instead of cream in recipes.

The Honey Danio is a really smooth, sweet yogurt. I imagine it would be really soothing for a sore throat (perhaps that's because I associate honey as a natural remedy for coughs and colds throughout my childhood!). A scoop of this yogurt tastes great mixed with nuts or even served with a pancake for a breakfast treat.

If you're a fan of tropical fruits (they remind me of summer!) then you'll love the new Mango Danio. The sweetness of the yogurt balances the citrus taste perfectly.

In addition to the new Mango, Honey and Plain yogurts, Danio is also available in: Strawberry, Passion Fruit, Cherry, Peach, Blueberry and Raspberry. The pots are available in all good supermarkets and priced around 85p each.
