Kinomaps and Wahoo Fitness: The Ideal Marathon and Triathlon Training Tools!

Kinomap Trainer
At this time of year, loads of people are signing up for Marathons and Triathlons and putting in hours worth of training on the pavements and treadmills. If you're one of them, or perhaps you're just getting started with running, cycling or rowing, then meet the Kinomap Trainer App and Wahoo Stride Sensor! It's the perfect duo for enhancing your indoor training sessions whether you're on a treadmill, stationary cycle or rowing machine!
Offering synchronised video playback, the Kinomaps app enables users to view a pre-recorded, GPS-located outdoor route, measure their own performance and view their progress on an accompanying map.

The app provides access to thousands of videos posted by the community, including the Seine in Paris and the Tour de France’s Alpe D'Huez. My personal favourite is the London Marathon 2012 video!

During the workout, the tablet or smartphone screen displays up to five panels that include the video itself, a map displaying a moving icon showing the user’s position in either a terrain or satellite view, the elevation profile, description or the complete dashboard.

The Kinomaps app is available on the Apple App Store and a subscription costs £7.99 per month or £49.99 per year.

To get your money's worth I suggest connecting an ANT+ receiver and accompanying sensor to your iPhone to track your rhythm, speed and stride power and compare it to the video.

An ideal set to use is the Wahoo Fitness Key to plug into your iPhone and a Wahoo Fitness Stride Sensor (both pictured right) which clips very securely into your trainer's laces (as seen on the left). Both of these devices are available to buy from Amazon (see below).

Why not enhance your training even further by using pairing your smartphone to wireless headphones?

received a free sample of the product  for the purpose of review but was not compensated in any other way. As always, opinions are my own!
